Room Conversation
That's why I wanted to, Actually I came to return the money.
Pañcadraviḍa:
Now only one thing is needed, Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Prabhupāda:
Hmm.
Pañcadraviḍa:
To have you sitting on the vyāsāsana and preaching like a lion.
Prabhupāda:
Yes, I wanted to say something. Let us see. [break]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
[devotees laugh] We had no father, Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Prabhupāda:
That is another thing.
Pañcadraviḍa:
And no money also. [laughing]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
No. We were vagabonds. We were loitering in the street, and you invited us into your home. That’s actually a fact. You fed us prasādam, cooked for us. You taught us how to be human beings.
Pañcadraviḍa:
Just like these gurukula kids. You have also taught us even how to dress ourself.
Jayādvaita:
And you brought us to Vṛndāvana, richest place.
Pañcadraviḍa:
Full of desire trees and jewels.
Prabhupāda:
You can provide five hundred students very easily.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Such a nice building. Who would not like to go to school here in Vṛndāvana? Nice, pure atmosphere. [break]
Vrindavan De:
[Transl. I am going father.]
Prabhupāda:
Hun?
Vrindavan De:
[Transl. I am leaving?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Where will you go?]
Vrindavan De:
[Transl. From here I am going to Delhi and from there tomorrow I will go back.]
Prabhupāda:
Hun?
Śatadhanya:
…Vrindavan, he’s going to Delhi. From Delhi he’ll go to Calcutta.
Prabhupāda:
Oh. Oh, Vrindavan.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Yes, Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You all have no worry about food and shelter.]
Vrindavan De:
[Transl. That’s why I wanted to, Actually I came to return the money.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You won’t be able to return it.]
Vrindavan De:
[Transl. This one I must return. I will return in April.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You didn’t return anything. You took five thousand. That’s rubbish. Don’t tell me that. You have taken so much money. You have already taken fifty thousand rupees. But you could not do anything. Just ate and slept. So much money wasted. I gave one time five thousand, one time ten thousand, I gave to your mother twenty-five thousand. Also I financed…] Where is the money? We cannot put fire in the flesh.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
[quietly] Can’t put good money after bad money.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. It will destroy everything. Better than that, if possible live comfortably, you are a son of a Vaiṣṇava. Become a Vaiṣṇava and chant the holy name of Hari. No need to worry about food and shelter. Live happily. Śrīla Prabhupāda’s picture is there, render service, offer him bhoga and take prasāda. And try to run the small shop. That is enough. You haven’t got to worry about food and shelter so what is the need of doing such a big business and waste so much money? You have lost already fifty thousand. It would have been better if you would have gone to the bank. There is no record of any transaction.]
Vṛṇdāvana De:
[Transl. I will arrange fifty percent money to settle with the person who supplies.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. That’s all rubbish.]
Vṛṇdāvana De:
[Transl. He said, he will arrange like that.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Rubbish, rubbish.]
Vṛṇdāvana De:
[Transl. We have to show some money.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Forget that completely.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Upendra, you should get Prabhupāda ready, because the parikramā’s ready.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Just eat and live. What is the need to do business?]
Vṛṇdāvana De:
[Transl. It is not a question of eating and sleeping]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. If you can then get a job. Like your brother, he is sitting and eating. You also sit and eat. Let your mother sit and eat. There is no problem for food and shelter. Why are you so much worried about where I will stay and what I will eat? Become a vaiṣṇava.] [break]
**Prabhupāda:[Transl. There is pus in…]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I will take care of that today. Does he feel discomfort while sitting?]
Bhakti-cāru:
Yes.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Does mucus come out?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. No, it comes out with difficulty.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Oh, with difficulty.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Little mucus came out.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Little swelling around the…
Bhakti-caru:
Eyelid.
Prabhupāda:
Hmm?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
There’s a little swelling today here, Śrīla Prabhupāda, around the eye. And the hands are kind of swollen.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. The swelling in the hands is less. Gradually it will reduce.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
What’s that, Bhakti-caru?
Bhakti-caru:
When the skin sags, that means that it’s…
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Going away. Yeah, but here it’s…
Bhakti-caru:
I was telling him that it comes and goes.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Yeah, it comes and goes. But in the eye it’s very much today.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Did he pass stool?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. No. He passed day before yesterday.] [to Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Did he pass stool day before yesterday? Very little in the morning.]Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Only a little.Bhakti-cāru: [Transl. Little.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Let me see the legs.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Okay. Should I open?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. The medicine that I have prepared now, we will apply it in the lower portion of the legs. I will heat it up little and smear it.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Okay. That powder, along with cow urine.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Cow urine. No. Only with water.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Okay with water. Should I apply now?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. You apply now. That will be nice.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Śrīla Prabhupāda? I think the kavirāja had a dream last night. [to kavirāja:] You had a dream.
Bhakti-caru:
Svapna.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. This morning at about 4.30 a.m. I had a dream that he is getting better. [Prabhupāda coughing] Is this coming from today? It’s mucus. Such mucus is produced from Horlicks, milk etc. and it blocks the throat. Has such coughing started today?]
Bhakti-cāru:
Yes.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Morning or later? He had it last night.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Just now it started. Parikramā…. [to Prabhupāda:] Did you have it before Śrīla Prabhupāda? [to Kavirāja:] No. Started from today only.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. This I will control today.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. When he coughs, he feels trouble as the mucus doesn’t come out. Also he can’t sleep properly because of coughing.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. When one is weak, when one’s fire of digestion is not strong, any disease will capture anytime.]
Bhakti-cāru:
I see.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Another cause for coughing is the weakness of the lungs. It gets affected quickly. By taking anything cold or drinking milk, may be milk is not suitable for him.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Is milk cold by nature?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Milk is cold.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. I see. Is coughing because of that? When we give him milk, he starts to cough.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Do one thing. You have barley, so along with barley give less quantity like one spoon or two spoons]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Of Horlicks?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Not Horlicks. Milk.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. No, Horlicks is also good. It contains vitamins etc.]
Bhakti-caru:
The doctor said he should take Horlicks and barley, little bit.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Like that he has a tendency of kapha or mucus no?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Yes. Little, little.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. In this age of life, after the age of seventy, vārdhakye vardhamānena vayu na rasya śleṣamāt a person becomes more and more afflicted by mucus and air. That is natural.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. One doctor said that whenever he coughs, lay him on the left side. Is it right?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. If the right lung is underneath the body a person coughs more. If one lays down on his left he remains peaceful.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. I see.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I will prepare the medicine by evening so that everything will come under control.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Do you have all the ingredients?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. You arrange to get Śītopalādi Chūrṇa. Everything else I have got. Prabhupāda:
About that distilling machine? I have told Tamāla.
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Śrīla Prabhupāda, the Vaidya at Raṅgajī Mandir will arrange for that. I have sent someone there. He will come here today.]
Prabhupāda:
Hun.
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Vaidyajī told him to come today. After dropping Vṛṇdāvana Bābu the car will bring him here on the way back. [to Kavirāja:] Yesterday he ate some Lauki sabji [Bottle gourd]. Should I give him today also?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Mahārāja, what do you feel like eating today?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. I will eat something.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That is good. Anything else would you like to eat?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Little something. Yesterday I ate Lauki.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. May be little milk and papaya I can give?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Give him what he wants to eat.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. I was thinking if little bit milk can be given.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes, Little you can give. That I can arrange. You can mix it with medicine so that there will be no mucus.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. What about yogurt?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. No. No yogurt.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Little milk, Papaya and honey together.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. If he likes to.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Srila Prabhupāda, Should I give you some grapes juice now, I mean pomegranate juice? No.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. What did you give him from morning?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. In the morning I gave him Horlicks only.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. How much did you give?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. One hundred twenty-five grams.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Don’t give more than fifty grams.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. The thing is he only drinks something in about three four hours.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. If you give him smaller amount he will feel hungry and he can take more often. And that way it will be digested.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Sometimes he sleeps for four hours. So he doesn’t take in between. That’s why I was thinking to give as much as possible.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Too much liquid he will not be able to digest.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He has no problem for digestion. [to Prabhupāda:] Śrīla Prabhupāda, Do you have problem in digestion?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. How will I know?]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. Small amount is good.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Okay. Then I will give small amount. Śāstrijī is saying to give you fifty cc at a time in every hour.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That will be good. It will be digested and he will feel hungry.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. I am sure Śāstrijī knows Bengalī.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He knows well.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I know little.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He lives in Calcutta so…]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I have many Bengali patients in Calcutta. I can not write, I hear and I understand. I can speak little.]
[Indistinct background discussion.]
Bhakti-cāru:
There is one medicine that needs to be distilled. He has the apparatus. There is another Ayurvedic Physician in Raṅgajī’s Temple, he is going to arrange for that. Yesterday he already asked him. He will be coming today also.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Sukha sanchar Company is there. They sold me a small…]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Now they have made another arrangement. Today I will arrange for the ark and it will be dispatched tomorrow.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Vaidyajī, he says there were two medicines for legs. Are they in separate packets?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. The first medicine was that of suṅṭh and narakachura. One is small and one is large. I told you to grind more. Didn’t I? Bigone is white. Bring here both I will show you. The swelling in the eyes, According to Caraka—tatrāme puratod kleda śroto paṇḍākṣa … When enough fluid is not produced then there is swelling in the eyes. The swelling in the hands is also less because the skin hangs down. Now medicines will go on 24 hours a day. As medicines will go in his body, in about four days time the swelling will subside.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Now it is less, the swelling of the eyes.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. When one sits up the swelling increases. We can heat it up. For cough, you put the rasa or medicine in a bowl and heat it up little bit.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. I will just go and do it and bring here. Honey is there, will honey spoil the decoction?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Did you put honey already? Oh, honey is already mixed. Then we have to give him as it is.]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. Honey never be kept on fire.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. They are enemy.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. He recited one śloka in that he says mucus blocks the throat. Actually that is not the blockage of the throat because he does not have that much mucus. Only when he caughs and tries to take out the mucus, does his throat become blocked. He chanted one śloka, he might have remembered something.]
Prabhupāda:
kaṇṭhāvarodhana … [Mukunda-mālā-stotra 33]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. That one.]
[Indistinct conversation] [break]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Did you see all the temples?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. What?]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. Did you see all the temples?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. See what? I didn’t see all the temples.]
Prabhupāda:
Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma Mandir?
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma…
Kavirāja:
[Transl. This one, yes. Yesterday I had darśana two three times. Very beautiful temple. It has been built by an extraordinary person. No ordinary person can do it. There is no doubt about it.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Our temple in Calcutta.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That Māyāpur temple?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. No. In Calcutta.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. No, I did not have darśana there.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. In Albert Road.]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. He is the President of Calcutta Temple.]
Adri-dharaṇa:
[Transl. Near Hindi High School.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I go there every day. I didn’t know before. Now I will visit. You have got so many temples. In Bombay…]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. We have got 108 temples.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Just see. There are 108 beads in a Japa bead, and in the same way you have got 108 temples. The number will increase more and more. In ten or twelve years the number will reach more than thousand. This is the best form of preaching. The purpose for which you have started this movement is very powerful and it is the highest remedy for the suffering people of the whole world.]
Prabhupāda:
Bhavauṣadhi
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Bhavauṣadhi. I visit about sixteen or seventeen millionaires, but I see that none of them is peaceful. Everybody is disturbed. They are burning like a blazing fire.]
Prabhupāda:
Saṁsāra-dāvānala-līḍha-loka.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. You are very right. Great personalities like Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Rāmānujācārya, Śaṅkarācārya were sent for preaching work. There is no doubt that you are also empowered by Kṛṣṇa. Svāmijī, every person is not capable of doing each and every thing.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. In London, New York, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, we have got large temples.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. I see. It is certainly praiseworthy. This morning I saw somthing that reminded me of the ancient time, about the Purāṇas. Just like this Gurukula today will transform into a big institution in about twenty years from now. The modern academic education like B.A. etc is nothing. The education given in the Gurukula is the highest of all.] [break]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. In the evening I went to Pāglānand Ṭhākura’s place.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What is there?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Pardon?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What is there?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. They are building a large temple. Very big. Now they are planning to construct a Hospital which will cost about eleven crore rupees.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What have they built now?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Now they are setting marbles in the temple room.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Do you see him?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. I know him. Before one time he had so much stomach pain. This is about five, six years ago when he was staying in Calcutta. Śrīnivāsa Jhunjhunwala. I had treated him for ten, fifteen days. He said I am a sugar patient. I have diabetes. I told him you have to control your diet. He said I can’t stop eating. I can’t stop sugar. I said if you eat sugar it will either damage your heart or paralyze your body.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. I have heard he smokes cigarettes so much.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. What to say, while I was there he smoked 10 cigarettes. He has bronchitis in his chest. I told him you are a saintly person, so you live a life like that. Why are you attached to sinful way of life?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What did he say?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. This habit won’t go away. Is it easy to control the senses, Mahārāja? Can everyone do it?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. A devotee should control it.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. There, the topic came out that what is the nature of Kali-yuga. In the scripture the characteristics of Kali-yuga are described piśāca vadana krurā/ kaliśca kalahapriya/ vāma haste dhṛtaṁ śiśnam/ svāde jihvāṁ karṣati. The two senses, anyone who conquers them, he is as good as God. The position in which he is now, we can accept him only as a materialistic sādhu.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Like that.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. It’s good that he is at least doing something ritual.]
Prabhupāda:
titikṣavaḥ kāruṇikāḥ
suhṛdaḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ
ajāta-śatravaḥ śāntāḥ
sādhavaḥ sādhu-bhūṣaṇāḥ [SB. 3.25.21]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. This is the symptom of a sādhu. The Sanskrit grammar also says, sat nauti prakāraṁ iti sādhu, he whose intention is honest, is a sādhu. Smoking cigarate is strictly prohibited. It is injurious to health. His lungs are finished. He already has bronchitis. In a short time he will suffer from asthma.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. How old is he?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That is why in our scripture Tamāla leaves are prohibited. Don’t use them.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. How old is he?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. He is about sixty years old. Didn’t you see him ever? He knows you very well. He was wishing good for you that may Mahārājajī get well soon, he is a good sādhu. He was surrounded by ten, twenty Mārwādis.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. What was the other one? One was dry ginger and the other was?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Narkachoor. So Vaidyajī will come at 10.30? You have to get one asṭāṅgabali from his place. I have to control his cough. It should not increase any further. Let us get it. We can give him 2/3 times a day.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He is about to come.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Śrīla Prabhupāda? Your Godbrothers Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī and Ānanda Prabhu, they are here. You want to see them? Also, someone told me that Bon Mahārāja has returned to Vṛndāvana. Is there any reason to call him here?
Prabhupāda:
If he likes, he can come.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Okay. We don’t have to invite him to come. He knows you’re here. So he should come of his own accord if he wants. Okay.
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Should this be applied like powder or mix it with water?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Water is okay but ark is better.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. It is difficult to stick in the body.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. If it falls off, let it fall. No problem. When it dries up it will come out automatically.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. So this should be applied 2/3 times a day.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Once a day you smear it and two times you apply like powder.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Once a day smear it and two times apply like powder. And in the evening, at night oil should be applied.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. Apply oil. Now he will have less sleep because of swelling medicine. Look here how the skin looks baggy. As swelling will reduce his skin will hang down.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Sometimes the swelling reduces to almost nothing. It has a connection with urine. If urine is more…]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. If the urine is more then the swelling will be less. Svāmījī also shows his own pastimes. Sometimes he makes it more and sometimes less.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. What if narakachoor and śunṭh are finished?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. You prepare more.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Half, half measure?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Same quantity each.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. What is the difference between śunṭh and adrak?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Adrak is raw ginger.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. And when it is dried, it is called śunṭh. Oh I see.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. It has different quality. Ginger from Bombay is of number one quality. Ginger from Bengal is number two.]
Prabhupāda:
Where is Bābājī Mahārāja?
Upendra:
Bhavānanda?
Bhakti-caru:
No, Bābājī.
Upendra:
Just coming.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Narkachoor. It is called Narkachoor. One is Kachoor and other is Narkachoor. Kachoor prevents cough. Narkachoor is different it cures swelling. Narakachoor is in big quantity. Kachoor Kasni is in small quantity.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Unless one recognizes the herbs, the shopkeepers will give what not.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. That’s true. In our West Bengal we get good quality medicine. The wandering tribal women of Bengal know them very well. Grocers also know. Here I saw everything is duplicate.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Kavirāja from Raṅgajī Mandir has come.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Has come?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Where is Bābājī?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He is coming. He just went to the temple.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Okay.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Come in. Come this side. Do you have Asṭāṇgavali in your place? Sit down. Do you have Asṭāṅgavali?]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. There is a shop. We have to see there.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. We cannot get it there. Today we have to control his cough problem.] [Indistinct discussion about medicine]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Śrīla Prabhupāda? I just now can’t find Kṛṣṇa dāsa. I’ll continue to look. I just saw him about ten minutes ago, told him one minute. When I came back… Maybe he’s walking around. If I find him then I’ll send him. I’ll continue to look for him.
Kavirāja:
[Transl. There is swelling in the eyes. Look here.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What did you see?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. He is checking your blood.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Anemia.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. Slowly, slowly this body, he has control over his body. That’s why it is still functioning. I think his hemoglobin is not more than 45.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Let me see your tongue.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. His tongue is clear from day before yesterday.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Is motion clear?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Motion, He doesn’t eat anything. We give Punārṇava and he will have clear motion. There will be no constipation. There is no gas in the stomach. That disturbance is not there.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Is there swelling in the stomach?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Slightly. In this portion slightly swelling is there.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. Please sit down.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. There is no wind in the stomach. This is the best symptom.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Normal. That is very important.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. When there is swelling, usually there is accumulation of gas in the stomach. Little swelling in the eyes. tatrāme puratod kleda śroto gaṇḍākṣa … ]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. What are these?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Narakachoor and soṅṭh. And at night śuṣkamulādi oil. For swelling.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. What about urine? By passing more urine the swelling will reduce.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. About urine, you prepare bhapkā [Distillation vessel] in which you mix one kilo of Punārṇa roots and one kilo of Mākoi. Tomorrow he must get the ark.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. I will arrange this today only.]
[Prabhupāda’s Godbrothers arrive]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī has come.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī.
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. Haribol.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Where did you go?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. To see the Gurukula.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Sit down. Ānanda Prabhu. Ānanda Prabhu you stay here with us.]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. Pardon?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You stay here.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. Hari bol!]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. You stay here.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. That is good.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. He roams around. Everyone laughs]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. I roam everywhere.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. My duration of life is finished. But still dragging. According to my horoscope there is no duration of life left.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. By the Lord’s will everything can change.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Now live or die is one and the same thing.] [background discussion between kavirāja and assistant continues; gives intructions to Bhakti-caru]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. When there is fever and you give milk that is not good. If there is chronic fever or cough and if you give milk it is good like nectar.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. That powder you gave, is it for cough? Should it be given with milk?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Give with milk.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What are the news? Bābājī Mahārāja?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. Pardon?]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. He is asking what is the news?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. What news? No fresh news.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Are you arranging for the ingredients?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. Make arrangement for ark. If bhapkā is unavailable then we can order it from Sukha Sanchara.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. First let me arrange the bhapkā. Then I will arrange the ark.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. You soak this in the water. If the ingredients weigh one kilo then you soak it in sixteen kilo water. Otherwise you can soak in eight kilos of water over night. In the evening you strain it. Asṭāṅgavali you send as soon as possible in an hour or two.]
Assistant Kavirāja:
[Transl. Asṭāṅgavali?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes. To Bhakti-cāru: May be you can send the car. He is not sick. This is his pastime.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa. That’s right.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You all make my pastime come to an end.] [break]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. My children, my wife go there. About three months ago she came to Vṛṇdāvana. She went to Māyāpur about one month ago. She described the beauty of Māyāpur. It is a wonderful place. She stayed there one night.]
Prabhupāda:

Kavirāja:
[Transl. Yes.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Where?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That I don’t know where she stayed. She went there by car. She stayed there at night and came back in the next morning. There is so much facility for staying. Here also there is nice facility for staying. If any guest comes there is plenty of facility. And devotees don’t require anything. They only need some shelter.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. In Māyāpur we have built a house for accommodation. How many people can live there, Bābājī Mahārāja?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. So many.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Ānanda?]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:
[Transl. Prabhu is asking how many people can live?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. How many people? One thousand people.]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. One thousand people can live.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Where? In Māyāpur? Yes. I think Mahārāja you understand, śrī vaiṣṇāvānāṁ goṣṭhiṣu nitya śrī nitya maṅgalṁ, in the association of vaiṣṇavas, Lakṣmī is always present because you have captured Lakṣmī’s husband. nitya śrī nitya maṅgalṁ, this means such a place is non different from Vaikuṇṭha. Bāṅgarjī also constructed a beautiful temple there.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:

Kavirāja:
[Transl. He spent twenty-six lakhs of rupees about seventeen, eighteen years ago.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. That is also nice temple.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. At least one more temple is built for the vaiṣṇava sampradāya. The most important thing is that another temple for our vaiṣṇava sampradāya has been constructed. Let there be more vaiṣṇavas, let people of the world be purified. Nowadays Mahārāja, the influence of Kali has spread so much in last twenty, thirty years. This influence was not prominent in the last century. Now almost every person is under illusion. Nobody is afraid of commiting sin. Previously people were afraid of the consequences. This is the influence of Kali. It is written in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, viprair bhāgavatī vārtā gehe gehe jane jane/ kāritā dhana-lobhena kathā-sāras tato gataḥ “Brāhmaṇas will describe the topics of Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes in Śrīmad Bhāgavatam from house to house in order to accumulate wealth, therefore their audience will not achieve devotional service, which is the essence of hearing such topics.” [Padma Purāṇa, Uttara-Khaṇḍa, chapter sixty three] tīrthā pākhaṇḍiḥ ruddhā]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Ānanda Prabhu, Did you see our new building? Did you? The new building we constructed, have you seen?]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. Just now we went and saw it.]
Bhakti-cāru:

Prabhupāda:

Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. A huge building.]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. That is bigger than this building.]
Bhakti-cāru:
[Transl. It is the longest building in West Bengal.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī & Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. Longest building.]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. You can accommodate about one thousand to one thousand five hundred people there.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. That is the place of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and it is spiritually powerful.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Do you like it?]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Do you like?]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa!]
Ānanda Prabhu:
[Transl. Yes. Everybody likes it. The whole world likes it. Who am I? The people of the world are astonished to see Vṛṇdāvana and Navadvīpa. They hear and see pictures of different cities outside India where sankīrtana is going on started by Bhakti Vedānta Svāmī.]

Kavirāja:
[Transl. He is most fortunate. Despite being highly learned in modern education he has left the unreal and embraced the path of reality. Not everyone can suddenly come in this path.]
Kṛṣṇa dāsa Bābājī:
[Transl. It is the mercy of the Supreme Lord.]
Kavirāja:
[Transl. Those who have pious credit from previous lives can adopt this path. Hanumānjī was asked, does the Supreme Lord protect by taking a stick in His hand? He gives good intelligence to those whom He wants to protect and He gives sinful mentality to those whom He wants to destroy. In Kali-yuga God does not come face to face. Through preaching He protects.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. They say, life comes from molecule, but we say, no. This was the subject matter for discussion in the conference. What happened to all the papers? Read it to them.]
Svarūpa Dāmodara:

Materialists and men of faith continue to disagree over the origins of life. According to the first group, life is derived from atoms and molecules. The Russian scientist Dr. A. I. Oparin has been propagating this view since 1957, but his challengers demand ‘really solid examples of life arising from matter.’ “

We also showed “Hare Kṛṣṇa Frontier,” “Spiritual Frontier” movies. They liked very much. And we’re having another lecture on Thursday. It will be given by Thompson in All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. There will be about some two hundred, three hundred scholars from around Delhi. We’ll be discussing about life in its origin. And also we are planning to give several lecture in Delhi University, in the mathematics, biology and physics departments.

Kavirāja:
[Transl. Rām Nārāyaṇa Ojhā. He lived in Vṛṇdāvana for twelve years and then he went back to his place to do business. I told him you are unfortunate. After living in Vṛṇdāvana for twelve, thirteen years if a person goes away then he is certainly very unlucky. Now he is seventy-five years old.
