the body of that girl named Manisa who had cancer...
Prabhupāda:
Now you can discuss. [Transl. Is everything okay?] [end]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. He was saying…the body of that girl named Manisa who had cancer…she came from America, she left her body yesterday, no the day before yesterday. Her funeral was performed the day before yesterday at the Yamuna.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Nobody can survive cancer.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Yes. She came from America.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. I also had a disciple named Jayānanda who left his body today while chanting the holy name of Hari.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Left his body?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. He had cancer. Very glorious death. He was the one who was arranging all the Ratha-yatras. Young man?] What was his age?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Jayānanda was about thirty-eight or forty.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. First he was driving taxi there. I first met him in San Francisco. So he used to drive me around and chant “Hare Kṛṣṇa,” “Hare Kṛṣṇa” while driving. He was the first person to give me five thousand dollar. “Take this and print your books.”] I was very anxious to print my books. So he is the first one to come forward, and give a five thousand dollar check.* [Transl. He was very good. After that, he used to run the San Francisco center himself by driving taxi. Very talented. Any work you tell him, immediately “Yes Yes” and he will do it. He was such a hard worker. He was very stout, long and comes from a rich family. His father and mother also came.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Prabhupāda, do you not feel any hungry now? Was there any benefit from going to Rishikesh?]
**Prabhupāda: nidrāhāra-vihārakādi-vijitau [Ṣaḍ-gosvāmī-aṣṭaka verse 6] [laughs]. [Transl. That’s why I came back here so that eating, sleeping should be stopped. Now I have to die. So why not return to Vṛṇdāvana? I see blurry in my eyes. Eyes?]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Yes, I understand.]
**Prabhupāda:[Transl. It must be because of weakness. Anyway I am back home. So in this condition, don’t bother to call for doctors. Simply do kirtan. If I happen to become unconscious, or I am unable to speak, you just go on doing kirtan. Nothing else. Calling doctor, giving injection, uptodate treatment—don’t do all this. I have already told this to them. What will the doctors do?] tvad-upekṣitānām, tāvad tanu-bhṛtāṁ tvad-upekṣitānām [SB 7.9.19] [Transl. Whatever the Supreme Personality of Godhead desires, that should happen.]
bālasya neha śaraṇaṁ pitarau nṛsiṁha
nārtasya cāgadam udanvati majjato nauḥ
taptasya tat-pratividhir ya ihāñjaseṣṭas
tāvad vibho tanu-bhṛtāṁ tvad-upekṣitānām [Transl. It is not that just by having parents the children are raised, just by having good medicines and doctors people survive. Similarly, all the remedies that are available in the world, the world is a place of struggle, one side struggle and another side its remedy. They go side by side. So, all the remedies will not be of any help even if you take full advantage of them. Whatever the Supreme Lord desires… One should depend on Him. The doctors simply make some experiments. They don’t actually know anything. They invent newer and newer things.] What is this cloth is hanging?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
It says, “Welcome, Śrīla Prabhupāda.”
Prabhupāda:
Oh. Where is Gopāla Kṛṣṇa?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
He went back to Bombay.
Prabhupāda:
Hmm. [Transl. When did he go? I didn’t know that.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. When did Gopāla Kṛṣṇa come here? On 7th? On 7th or 8th.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
He was in Delhi the day before yesterday.
Indian man (1):
He came here only for one day.
Prabhupāda:
Hmm?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
He was in Delhi only about two days ago. He’ll be coming back here, he said, in about one week from now—one week to ten days.
Prabhupāda:
[aside:] You can keep here. When Mr. Bose has come?
Akṣayānanda:
Mr. Ghosh?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Bose.
Akṣayānanda:
Oh. Just three days ago.
Prabhupāda:
How long he’ll stay?
Akṣayānanda:
He wants to stay.
Prabhupāda:
He wants, but I don’t think he wants. [laughs] It is known to me.
Mr. Bose:
No, I’ll stay. I promised them.
Prabhupāda:
You promised them? [laughter]
Mr. Bose:
By blessings.
Prabhupāda:
This time little advanced he has become there, Bose… Shaven-headed. [Transl. What obligations do you have?] His father was sannyāsī.
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Pardon?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. What obligation do you have?]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Nothing. All finished.]
Prabhupāda:
Mmm. His father was sannyāsī. He’s the first sannyāsī of Gauḍīya Maṭha.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
What, Śrīla Prabhupāda?
Prabhupāda:
His father was the first sannyāsī of Gauḍīya Maṭha, my Godbrother, Bhakti-pradīpa-tīrtha. He was very friendly. He liked me very much. [Transl. How old are you now?]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Who? 58 years.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. That’s enough. Now give up all the bad habits [indistinct]]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Everything. I have nothing.]
Prabhupāda:
He has come. Just try to train him.
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. I have given up everything, because I cannot come here with those things. There was a pressure from inside.]
Prabhupāda:
The pressure must be there. You are son of a very big man. The father’s quality must be there.
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. It’s your mercy only. Just like you brought me here now, without you nobody else could do that. This I can..] I… Hardly I endorse. Without Your Grace, a man like me, never. I realize your now…
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. You live here nicely. Help in the management.]
Mr. Bose:
He’s so kind to me.
Akṣayānanda:
Everything Prabhupāda does is [indistinct].
Prabhupāda:
He is ideal sannyāsī. I think he’s younger than you.
Mr. Bose:
Yes. As I am engrossed in this way. It is only through his grace I got extricated. It was impossible. I have got all ameneties. Still, the world has entrapped me in such a way that several times I promised to him; I could not extricate myself. But this time, I realized it and I last only… That strictness I found. Without him nobody can do it.
Prabhupāda:
He’s coming from government service. Ācchā.
Mr. Bose:
I had an executive post. And my father, most dearest godbrother of his. He has got a very, our nickname nobody knows, may be because he comes from that land. He’s a great poet.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Kavi.
Mr. Bose:
Kavi. In the mission only he is to poet, no other sannyāsīs and nobody, even not Prabhupāda, any sannyāsī. But he realized it. He always used to address him. How much love he saw, Prabhupāda. Yesterday I spoke, yesterday night. The greatest living export that has been brought down by God, it is what Bhaktivedanta Prabhupāda. He is the living export, Indian culture… [Transl. the message which he propogated there first] …in the world.
pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma
sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma
[CB Antya-khaṇḍa 4.126]
He is the literary living translator and implemented and carried out by single person. And that single person is so much infested and imbued with such a divine power. None of us can do. It is impossible. Practically it is impossible. The Prabhupāda’s unfulfillment mission has been fulfilled by this Vedānta Prabhupāda.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavata, all quotes, quotations, praising this all types of the power, all propagating the hari-nāma. And it is all-powerful by him. So there is a medium of literature, medium of professor, medium of the cinema, but still, medium of the personality who in impartially presented it himself. And you, all people, that attracted by his transcendental personality.
Nobody, social religions; there are many authorities and leaders have gone there, and social-religious reformers who practice the yoga, jñāna, karma, etcetera, etcetera. But the one person imbued and empowered fully, transcendental form, by Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu Himself, and by his guru, Prabhupāda.
I realized it. It is not that… Nobody can empower. And as a result our this Vaiṣṇava culture installing the Supreme as Kṛṣṇa pronounced as the master to worship Him. The nāma… He fulfilled the propagation of this cult of the nāma, and then more powerful… Means that he is the more loved. This kīrtana, and more, saṅkīrtana.
These three things themselves teach us, though in one word—kṛṣṇa-nāma-saṅkīrtana is one faith. But still it has the three aspects—Kṛṣṇa, then nāma, then kīrtana, then saṅkīrtana. So he has, in his life, he exhibited, he translated, and in the world he has given this Kṛṣṇa.
He has given this Kṛṣṇa. He has given the nāma. He has given the kīrtana, the saṅkīrtana which we have seen this morning, the saṅkīrtana, bahubhir militvā. Wonderful. In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta…
Prabhupāda:
So you have got assets. You have got parentage. Everything you have got. Now do something. You have come. It is a good association.
Mr. Bose:
Yes. I will do.
Prabhupāda:
Satāṁ prasaṅgān mama vīrya-saṁvidaḥ [SB 3.25.25].
[break] But they have dedicated their life to Kṛṣṇa. That is their qualification. Bhajate mām ananya-bhāk sādhur eva sa man… [Bg. 9.30].
So their association is sādhu-saṅga.
Mr. Bose:
Real association place. [break]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. There is no hot air blowing Śrīla Prabhupāda.]
Prabhupāda:
Hun?
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. No hot air blowing. Up until now. The whether is still cool. It remains cool at night.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Yesterday I noticed it was cool in Delhi.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Yes.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. This is water melon from Keśī-ghāṭa.]
[Prabhupāda takes prasādam]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. From Keśī-ghāṭa. May not be so sweet now.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Because it rained.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Yes.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Like this I will take some fruits.]
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
So good. Is there any good cow’s milk available?
Viśvambhara:
Oh, so much brāhmaṇa has brought so many cows.
Prabhupāda:
He has now kept some.
Viśvambhara:
Many cows we have got now. One Dhanañjaya bought, she is giving thirteen kilos, fourteen kilos.
Prabhupāda:
[to Mr. Bose: Trans_Stay here. There will be no shortage of anything.]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Okay.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Eat and live comfortably, and help in the management.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. Prabhupāda, should I bring some milk?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Not now. Not now. Can’t put anything in the stomach. We have no shortage of anything. If managed properly, it will be great.]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. I will take responsibility in the management. Whatever you say I will do. I give you my word.]
Prabhupāda:
Take him as…
Mr. Bose:
Management.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. So that everyone loves you. Live comfortably and worship the Supreme Lord Hari. I am not telling you to do me any favor.]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. No, no. By your blessings I will … may I spend the rest of my life in the service of the Lord.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. We also have good place to live. If anyone wants to serve Lord Hari, it’s good. He can do so without any anxiety. People from all standard. And who can have better standard than these people?]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Nowhere in the world.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Nobody has better standard than what we follow in all of our Maṭhas.]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Not only standard, yours is unique standard. Trancendental standard. Each and everything. It’s very different. It cannot be compared with others. It won’t be wise to even compare it with others. How many people can understand what you have given to the world? Except the most fortunate. Only those who are fortunate, they have joined.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Have you seen our judgment?]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Pardon?]
Prabhupāda:
Judgment, Supreme Court, America.
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. The one you gave last time?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. No. No.]
Mr. Bose:
[Transl. Then? You have anything latest?]
Prabhupāda:
[to Bhagatjī: Trans_Did he not give you in writing?]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. What?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. In Hindi?]
Akṣayānanda:
[Transl. We have got it in the temple.]
Prabhupāda:
And what about that Hindi translation?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
That judge is making?
Prabhupāda:
Huh?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
That has to be sent. We don’t have it yet.
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. We found a judge also in Rishikesh. We happened to meet a judge. So we have asked him to translate the judgment.]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. About what Śrīla Prabhupāda?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. The judgment which the American government issued. You haven’t seen it?]
Bhagatjī:
[Transl. You received a judgment from America?]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Yes. It’s a very important judgment. This is also a mercy of the Supreme Lord. I said “We will fight the case.” So much money has been spent. Otherwise everything will be spoiled. I told them “Sir, first you read all the statements in our books and then you issue the judgment.]

Prabhupāda:
“It is folly to be wise where ignorance is bliss.” So restaurant is going on in new building? No.
Akṣayānanda:
Evening, up till ten o’clock.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
In the new building? In this building.
Prabhupāda:
Eh?
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
It’s in the guesthouse. There weren’t many people there, though. Only about five people at lunch.
Akṣayānanda:
Today.
Prabhupāda:
People are not coming.
Akṣayānanda:
It’s up and down, Prabhupāda. Sometimes it’s full. One day it’s full; one day it’s nothing. It’s not steady. This is the problem. We always invite them. We go to the people personally and invite them, and they come.
Prabhupāda:
Anyway…
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
I think the waiters could have been better. They’re not very…
Akṣayānanda:
I can snap them up.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
They should be a little bit more businesslike.
[background discussion] [break]
Prabhupāda:
…see Rādhā-Dāmodara temple.
Akṣayānanda:
That would be nice.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Maybe tomorrow, if this Jayaśacīnandana goes the first time, I can go with him. I know Gauracānda a little bit, so I can, you know, just, as your secretary, send your greetings to him. He’ll appreciate that.
Akṣayānanda:
He’ll appreciate.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
I think what I’ll do is I’ll go at the time when I know they’re supposed to be making that offering. That way, I’ll see if it’s being done. Little spy work. What time is that offering made? Noontime?
Devotee:
Yeah, noon.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Twelve?
[pause]
Prabhupāda:
Then they can bring little prasādam from there.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa:
Okay. From the plate that’s offered to you?
Prabhupāda:
Yes, from… [break] [end]
