Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.8.18 Conversation in Hindi
So Kuntidevi is worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Satsvarūpa:
Śrīmatī Kuntī said: O Kṛṣṇa, I offer my obeisances unto You because You are the original personality and are unaffected by the qualities of the material world. You are existing both within and without everything, yet You are invisible to all.
Prabhupāda:
So Kuntidevi is worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead. She says “My Lord, You are antar bahir avasthitam. [SB. 1.8.18] You are present within and without also.” The Supreme Lord is present everywhere. īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛd-deśe ’rjuna tiṣṭhati. [Bg. 18.61] [Transl. In Bhagavad-gītā the Supreme Lord declares that He is situated within the hearts of all living entities. Sarva bhūtānāṁ, beasts, birds, insects, human beings, demigods, everywhere He is present. aṇḍāntara-stha-paramāṇu-cayāntara-sthaṁ [Bs. 5.35] The Supreme Personality of Godhead is within this universe, and He is also within the each and every atom by which this entire universe is created. This is antaḥ or inside. And bahiḥ or outside, He is in the sunshine, in the air, in the earth, kṣiti-ap-teja-marut-vyoma. He is also in the five gross material elements. Although the Supreme Personality of Godhead is present everywhere, He is invisible. Both inside and outside. The example is given in this regard. Just like a person from a family is acting in a drama. All his family members are watching him playing in the drama, yet they are not seeing. He is acting in such a way that they forgot he is their brother or sister playing. Similarly, the Supreme Lord is present everywhere both inside and outside. But one who is bewildered by māyā or the illusory energy, he cannot see Him. This is the point she* [Kuntidevi] is making.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. One who is free from the three modes of material nature, he can see.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. So when can one be freed from the material qualities? Only when one surrenders unto the the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord…]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Śaraṇāgati.*]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Hmm. Śaraṇagati. Mātājī knows everything. [laughs] Very good. You are Lakṣmī, everything is for you.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Your blessings only.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. If the wife is fortunate, wealth comes, and if the husband is fortunate, a son is born.]
Indian man:
[Transl. This is our daughter.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Youngest daughter.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. I see. Is she married?]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Yes. She has got children.]
Indian man:
[Transl. We got everybody married and everything and we are now free. Just need your blessings.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Let us go to Vṛndāvana.]
Indian man:
[Transl. Yes, ready.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Need your blessings.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. God has given you everything.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Everything is accomplished.]
Indian man:
[Transl. Everything. We got everything.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Yes. I can see. Both inside and outside.]
Indian lady:
[Transl. Yes. From all sides see Lord Hari.]
Indian man:
[Transl. I always tell her thar now we will only do service for Hare Kṛṣṇa.]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. If people like you want to render service there is so much service you can do. yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhas, [Bg. 3.21] by the mercy of the Lord you people are great man. At least nowadays rich people are considered great man. So if you set example then ordinary people, tat tad evetaro janaḥ, [Bg. 3.21] a big task can be accomplished quickly. You have got a mill, a factory, and if in it you can…it is our… it is part of the Kṛṣṇa Consciousness and that is in my idea which still I have not been able to introduce. That is, all these big, big factories…factories cannot be closed, though in the śāstra it is called ugra-karma, ugra-karma. Ugra means teja.
[Transl. Some are more powerful and some are less powerful. Karma or action we must perform. Without action we cannot fill up our belly. śarīra-yātrāpi ca te na prasidhyed akarmaṇaḥ [Bg. 3.8] the Supreme Lord Himself said that if you do not perform your prescribed duties you cannot even maintain yourself. This material world is such that you must work hard. But some are satisfied with minimum necessities of life through less hardship and some want to live gorgeously. So in order to live gorgeous life one has to take to ugra-karma. Otherwise anywhere you grow your food grains. kṛṣi-go-rakṣya-vāṇijyaṁ vaiśya-karma svabhāva-jam. [Bg. 18.44]
Indian man:
[Transl. I want to ask you…]
Indian lady:
[Transl. What? Let him say…]
Prabhupāda:
[Transl. Therefore if you join this Kṛṣṇa Consciousness movement then it will be a great example. An unique example for ordinary people.]
yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhas
tat tad evetaro janaḥ
sa yat pramāṇaṁ kurute
lokas tad anuvartateyad
[Bg. 3.21]
[Transl. The Supreme Lord has said this. This is the proof. Kṛṣṇa Consciousness is the perfect example. This can be introduced in your factory. The ordinary labours in your factory, they can be engaged. Start worshiping the Supreme Lord within the factory. The process of doing it, that we will explain.] [End]
